Rothwell Baptist Church

For the last 3 years  'Churches Together in Rothwell' ran the internationally known  Alpha Course.This is an informal exploration of Christianity  which has proved very popular with people of  faith, doubtful faith or no faith at all.  It was held at Springhead Park House, Rothwell  LS26 0ET.  

Each week Alpha began with a meal at 7.00. and finished by 9.30.  
A short talk was followed by discussion over coffee in small groups.

Week 1    Who is Jesus?
Week 2    Why did Jesus die?
Week 3    How can we have faith?
Week 4    Why and how do I pray?
Week 5    Why and how should I read the Bible?
Week 6    How does God guide us?
Week 7    How can I resist evil?
Week 8    Why and how should I tell others?
Week 9    Does God heal today?
Week 10  What about the Church?                   

An AwayDay at The Blackley Centre explored the subject of the Holy Spirit.

There was no cost apart from a voluntary contribution for the meals, and £10 for the AwayDay. 

On the first course we even increased numerically when Emma had her baby.  
Sophia has to be the youngest guest ever, turning up at four days old!

Previous guests (who formed good friendships) keep in touch via Bible study evenings and occasional social events.  You would also be welcome to any of these as a way of learning more about Alpha.

As Teen Challenge is coming to Rothwell this year, we are likely to defer the course until the beginning of 2011.  Email Gillian, the organiser, for more details or go the the main Alpha website for details of other local courses in the autumn.
